Build AI Powered Apps with Genkit
- Weekly Objective: Understand the core concepts of Genkit and build a basic, server-side AI flow by completing the foundational codelabs.
- High-Level Session: Introduction to Genkit, its core concepts (Flows, Models, Tools, RAG), and an overview of the week's codelabs. Q&A session.
- The Student's Journey (Async): Focus this week is on setting up your environment and working through the assigned codelabs. Post any setup issues or questions in the #build-with-ai-genkit channel as they arise.
- Codelab Focus: "Your First Genkit Flow" (Unstacked Labs).
- Weekly Objective: Gain a deeper understanding of Genkit's core concepts and how to effectively use them in building AI applications.
- High-Level Session: Detailed exploration of Genkit's core concepts, including Flows, Models, Tools, and RAG. Discussion on best practices and common pitfalls. Q&A session.
- The Student's Journey (Async): Continue working through the assigned codelabs, focusing on understanding and applying Genkit's core concepts. Share your progress and any challenges in the #build-with-ai-genkit channel.

- Build a Basic Genkit Flow
Build and Deploy AI Powered Apps on the Cloud
- Weekly Objective: Deploy an application to Google Cloud Run and integrate Vertex AI by completing the relevant deployment codelabs.
- High-Level Session: An overview of serverless computing, containers, and the Vertex AI platform. Q&A on deployment strategies.
- The Student's Journey (Async): You will learn to deploy a serverless application. Use the appropriate channel (#build-with-ai-genkit or #build-with-ai-adk) for deployment questions.
- Codelab Focus: "Deploying a container to Cloud Run" (Google Codelab).
- Weekly Objective: Finalize and submit your capstone project proposal and begin development. Final capstone proposals are due this week.
- High-Level Session: A deeper dive into using production-grade services like Vertex AI Search. This session is the official start of the capstone development period.
- The Student's Journey (Async): The focus shifts entirely to your capstone. The #capstone-project channel is now your primary place for all project-related discussion, collaboration, and support.
- Codelab Focus: No new codelabs. Revisit previous labs as a reference for your capstone.
Build Agentic AI Experiences with ADK
- Weekly Objective: Design and build a complete, standalone conversational experience by following the ADK and Actions Builder codelabs.
- High-Level Session: An overview of conversational design principles and a walkthrough of the Actions Builder interface. Q&A session.
- The Student's Journey (Async): You will switch focus to ADK. All questions about Actions Builder, conversational design, or the codelab should go into the #build-with-ai-adk channel.
- Codelab Focus: "Introduction to Actions Builder" (Google Codelab).
- Weekly Objective: Complete codelabs on integrating external data into an Action and propose a capstone project using either Genkit or ADK.
- High-Level Session: A high-level look at using webhooks to make Actions dynamic, followed by a kick-off for the capstone project.
- The Student's Journey (Async): You will work through the final introductory codelab on webhooks. Brainstorming for your final project will begin in the #capstone-project channel.
- Codelab Focus: "Implementing Webhooks in Actions Builder."

- Weekly Virtual Sessions: Each attendee from a participating town (Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri, Eldoret) will have one 3-hour virtual session per week. These sessions will be interactive and cover the key concepts of the focus area for that week.
- Virtual sessions happen 4 days in a week beginning with the first day of the week. You are free to attend the most convenient one.
- Self-paced Learning: For the rest of the week, participants will be completing assigned code labs, assignments, and self-study.
- In-Person Sessions: These sessions will provide opportunities for deeper engagement, hands-on support, networking, and project development. See schedule.
